Endangered Species Day  from 10:00am-1:00pm
Cost: Free with zoo admission

Explore the world of threatened wildlife on national Endangered Species Day. Visit the discovery station to see products made from endangered species first hand. Tour the zoo to find current and former endangered species being helped by zoos and aquariums. Pick up a coloring sheet and learn how you can help animals at risk.

Pet Fest at Buttonwood Park

The Coalition for Animals is having it’s 132h Annual Pet Fest and Walk for Animals on Sunday, May 20th from 11-3pm at Buttonwood Park (next to Lawler Library), New Bedford, MA.   Great prizes, contests, demonstrations, food, music and more!

100% of all proceeds goes to our programs.  Help raise money for injured, sick, abandoned and homeless animals.  Walkers without dogs are welcome.   Call 508 991-6366 or visit www.coalitionforanimals.com or  http://www.nbaco.info/  for more info and to download registration forms.   Vendor booth forms also available to download!

Build a Bird House Workshop at 1:00pm
Cost: Members: $10/kit; Non-members: $12/kit

Create a beautiful wooden birdhouse to take home in this adult-and-child workshop.  Additional kits will be available for purchase the day of the event. This workshop is recommended for children age 5 and older.  An adult should accompany each child.  Participants must pre-pay and pre-register by visiting www.bpzoo.org or by calling (508)991-6178x 31.

Buttonwood Park Zoo is joining forces with Dr. Seuss to create a splash for World Oceans Day! Join us for fun activities and giveaways throughout the weekend.


Family Twilight Tour
Saturday, June 9 at 6:00PM
Cost: Members: $15/person; Non-members: $18/person; Children under 3 FREE
Join us for an exciting evening at the Zoo rain or shine! This 3 hour program includes a pizza dinner, a program about animals at the Zoo, an evening tour of the Zoo and a campfire with s’mores! Father’s Day at the Zoo

Wild West Zoo Fest Friday, July 27 from 6:00pm-10:00pm Tickets: $50/person
Mosey on over on Friday, July 27, for our country and western themed over-21 plus event! Dance to the sounds of the Country Mile Band, enjoy BBQ by Russell Morin, ride the mechanical bull, wet your whistle in the Bear’s Den Saloon and bid on our auction items. Feeling lucky? Enter our 50/50 raffle where you pick a square in our paddock, and our cow…decides the winner. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at the Zoo or online at www.bpzoo.org.

Zoo Crew’s Buttonwood Bunch  from 9:00am – noon
Cost: Members: $100/week; Non-members: $120/week

The zoo is a wild place for 5 and 6 year olds! Each day will feature a special topic such as camouflage or eggs that we will explore in depth with games and crafts. Enjoy the outdoors, make new friends and have fun!


Zoo Crew | 9:00am-3:00pm

Sessions Cost: Zoo Members: $175 per week for one child. (Siblings are $150 each)
Non-Members: $200 per week for one child. (Siblings are $175 each)

The Zoo will be open free to the public on Friday, July 1 thanks to the Highland Street Foundation Free Fun Friday program. The Zoo will be open regular hours of 10 AM to 5 PM with last entry at 4:30 PM. Train and Carousel rides will be available for standard ticket prices.
