Court street is to the left, Hawthorn to the right, Brownell at the bottom. The current zoo is visible as the developed area in the photo. The proposed changes to the boundaries are drawn in, included an expansion of about 4 acres (out of a 97 acre park) towards Court Street.
The Asia area is our first priority. This will give our elephants about 8 times the area they currently have, and allow us to meet proposed Association of Zoo and Aquarium guidelines by bringing in a companion elephant for Emily and Ruth, our long-term elephant residents. We also propose a tiger and a snow monkey exhibit in this area.
