If you have visited the Buttonwood Park Zoo, you may have seen me swimming, splashing, or even resting underwater. I enjoy teaching my community about my unique behaviors and inspiring a passion for the natural world. One of my most favorite parts of the day is when I hear children enjoying the zoo. Their giggles and curious sounds make me swim a little more joyfully. Living here has been a rewarding experience and I have made many good friends. The community and my zookeepers provide a safe and nurturing environment for me as well as for my other neighboring friends Emily, Ruth, Dunkin, Doughnut, Hazelnut, Chestnut, and Walnut.
Here at the Buttonwood Park Zoo, we see many families on a daily basis. Some visit quite frequently and partake in our numerous events and activities. Others visit a couple of times a year and express their appreciation. You may have your own reasons to visit and support the Buttonwood Park Zoo. You may be an animal enthusiast. You may have small children and enjoy sharing the learning opportunity the zoo presents. You may be looking for an activity to share with out-of-town friends. Or simply, you may be community oriented and want to support this local treasure. Your support helps over 7,000 school children visit the zoo annually.
I kindly ask that you consider donating to our annual appeal and help support the zoo’s educational mission. The Buttonwood Park Zoo and the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society strive to create experiences for exploring and enjoying the natural world. They cannot do it alone. I am proud to play my part in exciting and inspiring a lifelong interest in conservation and wildlife. I live in a small zoo with big aspirations. Your support will help ensure families have the opportunity to enjoy and preserve all that the Buttonwood Park Zoo has to offer. For those of you who haven’t been to the zoo lately, I hope you’ll come visit me soon!
Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season!
