2013 Animal Poetry Contest

The Buttonwood Park Zoological Society invites students in grades 4, 5, and 6 to write a poem about birds at the Zoo. Animals include: American   Bald Eagle, American Oyster Catcher, Wild Turkey, Chicken, Eastern Screech Owl, and Turkey Vulture. Poems can address any aspect of the animal, for example: how it looks, acts, sounds or why it is important to the environment, or why you like it so much, etc.

    Looking for a list of your birds for the poetry contest and can not find one on the site. Could you please help me find that list? My class is going to write poems for the contest. Thanks so much.

    Hi Ellen,

    Your students may write about any bird that lives at the Zoo. The birds that live at the Zoo include: American Bald Eagles, American Oyster Catcher, Black Skimmer, Common Terns, Chickens, Eastern Screech Owls, Northern Cardinal, Piping Plovers, Red Head Duck, Turkey Vultures, and Wild Turkeys.
